SPORTS

WRITER

When I was in grade school, my father would bring home a copy of The Chicago Tribune from work each day.

For every grammatical error I could find, I would get a quarter. So, I read. Every day. I was already passionate about sports, so I typically read the sports section first.

While I didn’t make much money going through those pages, reading the bylines of writers like Skip Bayless, Mike Downey and Rick Morrissey proved even more lucrative. Reading those articles initiated my desires to become a sportswriter.

From a young age, my goal has been to occupy a space similar to the ones in which their work once resided.

Now, just weeks before college graduation, that goal hasn't changed.
